Emergency Shelter

BHRAGS provides support to singles and families in NYC Emergency Shelters, enabling them to find permanent affordable housing.

Emergency Shelter at BHRAGS

Through its network of emergency shelters, BHRAGS aims to maintain home stability, avoid repeated shelter stays, and encourage self-sufficiency.

If you need a safe place to sleep in New York City, the Department of Homeless Services (DHS) will provide shelter. An emergency shelter is a temporary facility providing housing for individuals and families with children who lack other housing options.

Adult Shelters

BHRAGS Single Adult Shelters provide meals, 24/7 security, case management, housing aid, and assistance in obtaining any additional resources that may be a barrier to independence.

A trauma-informed staff creates a personalized care plan to suit client’s urgent needs and works with them to locate permanent homes swiftly.

Family Shelters

BHRAGS Family Shelters provide meals, 24/7 security, case management, housing aid, recreation, and assistance in obtaining any additional resources that may be a barrier to independence.

Recognizing the fundamental need for shelter, BHRAGS provides emergency shelter for all eligible homeless families, with a clear application process through DSS-DHS.

To facilitate a swift transition to permanent housing, staff assist parents in finding employment and prioritize children's health and development. Each family develops a personalized service plan outlining steps to achieve stability, including obtaining benefits, securing employment, finding housing, and improving their overall quality of life upon transitioning to the community.
